NATIONAL SEMINAR ON Project Chord (Cultural Heritage: Exploiting Opportunities for Rural Development) concluded with the dissemination of results in San Severino Lucano
2 September 2011 - A National Seminar was held in San Severino Lucano as part of the actions of the Project Chord. The seminar took place in the meeting room of the Mulino Iannarelli, an old water mill converted into a hotel. Many local representatives and local stakeholders took part in the event.
Among the speakers there was the Mayor of the Municipality of San Severino, Mr Saverio De Stefano, who talked about the project objectives: economic, cultural and rural promotion, through the creative and innovative cultural hubs on the basis of the partners’ cultural heritage and the resources offered by the territories. He also highlighted the importance of the project for the promotion of the Pollino area.
Mr Franco Fiore, Vice-President of the Pollino National Park emphasized the work done, the various stages and modalities of promotion undertaken, which range from the tasting of local products to the issuing of brochures and booklets, and the importance of the cooperative network among the local representatives and stakeholders.
Mr Carlo Falato, Minister of Tourism of the province of Benevento, Italy and lead Partner of the Project Chord, spoke about the development of the project and highlighted the exchange of good practices among different but similar countries. Eventually he called on the participants to continue with the cooperation.
Mr Vito Rossi, Minister of Tourism of the Basilicata Region, stated that the project can be defined as one of the good practices always needed, and considered as the right approach to the system, because it gives the right answers to the demands of the Pollino National Park territory. Mrs Angela Zifarone, project manager in San Severino illustrated, step by step, all the activities carried out by the partners in their own territories: the Province of Benevento, lead partner (Italy), the Municipality of San Severino Lucano, the Region of East Macedonia & Thrace and Ena Chios S.A. (Greece), Association Pôle Industries Culturelles et Patrimoines (France), Mancomunitat de la Ribera Alta, Fundación Comunidad Valenciana – Región Europea and Municipality of Ceutí, the Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of Seville (Spain), the Province of Avellino (Italy).
Mr Gianni Pittella, Vice-President of the European Parliament, closed the meeting by underlining the great importance of network cooperation.
The meeting ended with a tasting of the local products.
