Within the context of the EU efforts to foster the right environment for cultural and creative industries to contribute to smart, sustainable and inclusive growth, the Committee of the Regions is drafting an opinion about the European Commission's Green Paper on "Unlocking the potential of cultural and creative industries", which is to be approved in December. The Fundación Comunidad Valenciana – Región Europea prepared a common position on the topic gathering and summarizing the position of CHORD project partners.

Europe is planning to better promote its heritage through a new label which is expected to come into force no later than 2012. The Committee of the Regions' opinion on the subject is clear: since the financial management of these sites falls mainly to the local and regional authorities, it is incomprehensible that the current Commission proposals foresee no role for them in this process.
